The winter has been a busy time for everyone working on the Recycle Zone project. After smashing through the project’s target of 80 zones in September, well ahead of schedule, the team has been working towards a new aim of setting up 120 zones across the UK by March 2011.
One of our most exciting openings this winter was the launch of new Recycle Zones across all four Center Parcs villages. Not only are these zones allowing guests to more easily recycle on-the-go, whilst at the villages, they are helping to involve and education consumers in recycling – encouraging habits which we hope guests will continue in their lives after their Center Parcs visits.
New Recycle Zones have also popped up in various shopping centres in the last few months – Recycle Zones has partnered up with the Enviromall initiative at The Malls in Barnsley, Walthamstow, Middlesborough and Sutton Coldfield. Shoppers at Castle Point Shopping Centre in Bournemouth will also now find recycling on the go more accessible because of the new Recycle Zones situated across the site.
Finally, where better to educate people on the importance of recycling than at university? Both West Lothian College in Scotland and The University of Exeter have started their spring terms with new recycling units from Recycle Zones set up across their campuses. With 74% of students saying they would recycle more if recycling areas were more readily available in their area, we expect these zones to be a real success!
We’ve plenty more in the pipeline so keep an eye out for the next update!
